27 Lunar Mansions

The twenty-seven (or twenty-eight with Abhijit) nakṣatras divide the ecliptic into 13°20′ arcs. The Moon's nakṣatra at birth determines the Vimśottarī Daśā starting period. Each nakṣatra has four pādas of 3°20′, a presiding deity, a ruling planet, and classical significations from Bṛhat Saṁhitā Ch 15 and BPHS.
